Bigger, Brighter, Bolder and a Fire Walk
It’s been a while since I done something new for the first time, I guess the older you get the more that last statement is true. Today I learned that I can break an arrow by placing the tip at my throat and I can walk on 1000 degree coals.
Why did I do it? Because the time was right, and because Tracey Miller from Bigger, Brighter, Bolder dropped me an e-mail inviting me to consider attending. I went with an open mind and a truck load of history. The history we call carry with us and sometimes reference as emotional baggage. The down to earth and colourfull language connected with everyone in the room in a fundamental way. George has his own style, flair and a passion for helping others which demands your attention. It’s not for everyone. Not everyone is prepared, or at a point when they are prepared to listen. That’s OK too. Perhaps your day will come tomorrow, or next week. When you want to, it’s their waiting for you.
I’m pleased and proud to say that my day was today. I’ve had a week off of work, my first week in about 5 years and taking time out for my own learning was long overdue.
The seminar during the afternoon made me look inwards and identify with the choices that I made that define my personality. The choices I was unaware I was making. Those choices which now attract the label of ‘personality forming’. Some of those choices made a strong, capable guy. Others created a fearful, vulnerable, insecure and uncertain man. Of course we all have moments of doubt, moments when fear keeps us safe. That’s a positive. However, the fear that stops me doing the things I need to do in order to get the things I want…perhaps they’re not so safe. They are self limiting. Today I tested those limits and broke the arrow and walked the hot coals. I wonder what I’ll do tomorrow ?
What might you do tomorrow?
Choose to do one thing that makes you a little fearful and share your story. Keep the action just beyond where you’ve been before and I believe you’ll do it. Have fun. Smile. Share the story with others.
Have a great day and thanks for reading.
